Picture, caption follows Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Sept. 27, 2002 — Wearing the traditional lei on her sail, USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705) arrives in Pearl Harbor for a port visit on her way to her new homeport in Guam. She will be part of Submarine Squadron 15 (SUBRON15) reactivated in February 2001 in a ceremony held on board USS Frank Cable (AS 40). After 20 years of dormancy, the squadron was reactivated to support the homeporting of up to three Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines, of which City of Corpus Christi is the first. Picture, caption follows Frederikshaven, Denmark, May 24, 2002 — Machinist's Mate 1st Class Charles Holter directs the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Super Scorpio back aboard the submersible support and submarine rescue ship, M/V Delores Chouest during Exercise Sorbet Royal 2002, as two other crew assist. The U.S. Navy has two Super Scorpio ROVs, each equipped with two heavy-lift hydraulic manipulators: one five-function and one seven-function position-feedback. Super Scorpios have a maximum operating depth of about 5,000 feet (1,524 meters). Sorbet Royal 2002 is the fifth North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) sponsored live submarine search and rescue (SAR) exercise being held off the coast of Denmark. U.S. Navy photo. Frank Cable is one of two forward-deployed submarine tenders that provide vital services to submarines while away from their homeports. The other tender is USS Emory S.
